ESLIM will offer three teacher‑training opportunities this fall:

Saturday, September 19 — Training for New ESL Teachers

In-person at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

The New ESL Teacher Training course equips volunteer teachers with the essential skills and confidence needed for the English classroom. This interactive session covers how to create effective ESL lessons, teach adult learners, use audiovisual materials, and address shared challenges. Presentations, discussions, videos, and demonstrations provide practical tools you can use right away.

Saturday, September 26 — Training for Teachers of Intro-Level Learners

In-person at Fairfax UMC 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Teaching English to intro-level learners (also called beginner or literacy level) can be challenging. This course offers instructional ideas, activities, and strategies to help teachers connect with learners who cannot yet speak English. Participants will see practical demonstrations and take part in hands-on activities designed for both new and experienced intro-level teachers.

Saturday, October 17 — Online Continuing Education for Experienced ESL Teachers

Online 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Increasing Fluency in Intermediate and Advanced English Learners is designed for teachers who want to elevate their instruction beyond the textbook. This course provides practical strategies for tailoring lesson content to learner goals and offers specific classroom and homework activities that build spoken and written fluency.
